Whether they have called Hanoi home for just six months or several years, these writers translate their life experiences and hopes about the city into expressive and vivid works. Through poems, fiction, essays, and visual art featured in "Strange Roots," readers are invited to explore the dynamic, enchanting, and often chaotic nature of Hanoi, as well as to understand how these "strange people" have put down "strange roots" in its fertile ground. The book presents a lively portrayal of the city, akin to a short film viewed through the eyes of amateur photographers, capturing its idyllic, simple, yet diverse nature.
