Special exhibition on Dong Son Culture to be held in Hanoi this month

The exhibition is co-organized by the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and the Centre for Southeast Asian Prehistory, running from September 26 to October 3, 2025, at the Viet Art Center (42 Yet Kieu, Hanoi). This event aims to provide visitors with a comprehensive view of Dong Son Culture and the development of prehistory in Vietnam.
Over nine days, the exhibition will showcase a hundred historical relics that represent the Dong Son Culture, including weapons, tools, models of houses, musical instruments, and particularly valuable items such as the bronze drum and ceremonial cranes. Additionally, recent research findings on this era will be shared, along with short lectures discussing Dong Son Culture.
Attendees of the exhibition will not only gain visual insights into Vietnam's prehistory but also feel inspired by national pride and encouraged to preserve the rich heritage of Vietnam’s history.
Dong Son Culture emerged and flourished approximately 4,000 years ago in northern and central northern Vietnam. It is regarded as one of the most prosperous periods in Vietnamese prehistory, marked by significant advancements in various fields, including agriculture, military technology, cultural diversity, and social development. Historically, it laid the groundwork for the formation of the Van Lang kingdom, which is recognized as the first Vietnamese nation, established around 2,879 BC.
