Sibylle Bergemann’s photo exhibition to be held at Goethe Institute

The exhibition starts at 6.00pm on 11th, October 2011 with a small opening ceremony and last to 12th November at Goethe Institute in Vietnam (56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street).

The exhibition opens at 6:00 PM on October 11, 2025, with a small opening ceremony and will run until November 12 at the Goethe Institute in Hanoi (56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street).

Featured in the exhibition are the photographic masterpieces of acclaimed German photographer Sibylle Bergemann. The collection includes a variety of photo series that predominantly explore themes of societal evolution during her era. Through these images, Bergemann’s aspiration for creative freedom in artistic expression is poignantly illustrated.

Sibylle Bergemann was one of the most influential and notable photographers in East Germany during the Cold War period in Europe. Her work has garnered global recognition and appreciation, profoundly impacting multiple generations of Germans. Bergemann passed away in November 2022 in Gransee, near Brandenburg, leaving behind a significant legacy in the field of photography.

The Goethe Institute in Vietnam serves as a cultural organization representing Germany, named after the esteemed poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Its primary mission is to promote German culture through a diverse range of activities, including German language instruction, exhibitions, film premieres, and concerts.
