In recent years, Australia has seen a growing number of travelers visiting Vietnam, and efforts from the Australian tourism administration to promote Vietnam as a travel destination have solidified Australia's position as a key market for Vietnamese tourism. This is in line with the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy for 2025 and its vision towards 2030.
The strategy, implemented by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Consulate General in Sydney, includes targeted promotional campaigns aimed at Australian travelers. These initiatives encompass various activities such as promotional events, including the successful 'Vietnam Tourism Showcase' held from October 5 to 7, 2025, along with extensive media, press, and online outreach efforts.
As of 2025, Australia holds the 6th position on the list of countries with the highest number of visitors to Vietnam, with approximately 370,000 Australian tourists reported in 2024. With the new cooperative measures and increased promotional activities, a significant rise in Australian tourist numbers is anticipated in the coming years.
