Preparation for upcoming Perfume Pagoda Festival underway

Only three weeks left until Perfume Pagoda Festival, the biggest and longest annual festival in Vietnam, which lasts for three full months during spring.

Only three weeks left until Perfume Pagoda Festival, the largest and longest-running annual festival in Vietnam, taking place over a full three months each spring. To prepare for the upcoming event, the festival's organizing committee and local authorities have implemented several updates to improve infrastructure and enhance security measures.

Officials have invested in expanding the wharf and have put a total of 5,000 boats into service for this year’s festival—500 boats more than last year—to avoid overcrowding and ensure the safety of all travelers.

In addition, to manage business activities and alleviate traffic congestion during the festival, shops and booths will be set up at a distance from worship areas, and the use of loudspeakers has been prohibited. The People’s Committee of My Duc District has instructed shop owners to commit to reasonable pricing and ensure food hygiene.

The organizers have also enforced strict regulations to address violations and vandalism at the sacred Buddhist pagodas and surrounding areas. Additionally, a new waste treatment system will be in operation throughout the festival.

According to a recent decision by the Hanoi City People’s Committee, the entrance fee for the festival has increased to VND 70,000 per ticket for adults and VND 35,000 per ticket for seniors and children. A round-trip boat ticket on the Huong Tich route is priced at VND 40,000 to 50,000, while tickets for the Long Van and Tuyet Son routes cost VND 30,000 to 40,000.

The festival opens on the sixth day of the first lunar month (Gregorian date: February 17, 2025) in My Duc District, Hanoi. As has been the tradition, more than 1 million pilgrims and tourists are expected to visit the festival this year. Authorities are continuing to address concerns about illegal and criminal activities that typically arise during the festival period.
