One Pillar Pagoda, a magnificent Buddhism relic in Hanoi has beenrecognized by the Asian Records as the most unique architecture in this continental. This is confirmed by Vietnam Records Organization on October 17.

Originally named Dien Huu, which means “long lasting happiness” in ancient Vietnamese, the pagoda was constructed in 1049 as a place for royal family to worship Buddha and Gods. Being built from wood and stone as other Buddhism constructions at that time, however the unique feature of standing on a pillar in the middle of a lake makes its difference.  It looks like a lotus, the symbol of purity in Buddhism, rising from the water.

Along a thousand year of history, the place was reconstructed and repaired many times, but the original architecture and decoration have barely modified. On 4 May, 2006, the pagoda was recorded in Vietnam’s Guinness Book as the pagoda with the most unique architecture.
