Nine sea and island records recognized
On the occasion of the Vietnam Sea and Island Week (June 1-8), the Vietnam Book of Records has announced nine new sea and island records.
In celebration of Vietnam Sea and Island Week (June 1-8, 2025), the Vietnam Book of Records has unveiled nine new notable sea and island records.
Tra Co Beach in Quang Ninh Province remains recognized as Vietnam's longest beach, stretching an impressive 17 kilometers. Ha Long Bay continues to boast the highest number of islets in the country, with a total of 1,196. The Spratly Islands, situated 243 nautical miles from Khanh Hoa Province, are acknowledged as the most remote islands in Vietnam. Tam Giang Cau Hai, located in Thua Thien Hue Province, holds the title of the largest lagoon, covering an area of 21,600 hectares.
Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong City is celebrated for having the largest number of islands, totaling 367. Hon Khoai Island in Ca Mau Province is recognized as the southernmost island in Vietnam. Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang Province remains the largest island, encompassing an area of 561 square kilometers. Nam Yet in Khanh Hoa Province is known as the biggest marine reserve, spanning 35,000 hectares. Quang Ngai Province is identified as the most densely populated island, with a remarkable density of 1,888 people per square kilometer.
The record list, curated by the Vietnam Book of Records, aims to promote the unique natural features and attractions of the nation's seas and islands, reaching out to local and international travelers.
