Lured into Jazz with Unit Asia

Unit Asia, a young Japan-based jazz band is going to give their first performance in Vietnam in the early February.

Unit Asia, a dynamic jazz band originating from Japan, is set to perform in Vietnam for the first time in early February 2025. They will participate in a jazz concert dedicated to the victims of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. This impactful concert will take place at the Youth Theater in Hanoi on February 3rd, 2025, and at Ben Thanh Theater in Ho Chi Minh City on February 5th, 2025.

The concert is co-organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City and the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam. It aims to reflect Japan’s resilient spirit in rebuilding the towns affected by the disaster and express gratitude to the Vietnamese government and people for their timely support.

This two-hour concert is a must-see for any jazz lover, showcasing impressive performances from the band's five talented members: Japanese musicians Isao Miyoshi (guitar), Hiroyuki Noritake (drums), Shigeki Ippon (bass), Malaysian pianist Tay Cher Siang, and the renowned Thai saxophone player Koh Saxman. The show will also feature unique performances by the talented local jazz artist Tung Duong.

Formed in 2008, Unit Asia released their first album in 2010 and has performed extensively across Southeast Asia, including countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The upcoming concerts in major cities of Vietnam are part of the band's Southeast Asian Tour 2025.

Free tickets can be collected at the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (27 Quang Trung Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), the Consulate General of Japan (13-17 Nguyen Hue Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), and Ben Thanh Theater (6 Mac Dinh Chi Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).
