Long An Palace, recognized as one of the most significant structures in Hue City, has been welcoming visitors since its reopening on March 25, 2012, following an extensive conservation project that lasted three years. As of 2025, the palace continues to serve as a vital cultural and historical site.
Long An Palace spans an area of 6,330 m² and functions as a historical museum. It houses approximately 10,000 antiques from the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum, which collectively provide insights into various facets of Nguyen dynasty society, helping to illustrate the complex life of Vietnam's last feudal kingdom.
Currently, around 424 of the most unique artifacts depicting royal life during the Nguyen Dynasty are on display at the palace, allowing visitors to connect with the rich heritage of this era.
Constructed during the reign of King Thieu Tri (1841-1847), Long An Palace is one of the most notable constructions in Hue City. Since its completion, the palace has served multiple roles, including being a worship site for King Thieu Tri, as well as serving as a library and museum, as it stands today.
