Live the childhood memory with Japanese anime exhibitions

In Vietnam, there are certainly a large number of fans of Japanese manga and people who simply adore popular anime characters like Pokemon, Doreamon or Astroboy.

In Vietnam, there remains a vibrant community of fans who are passionate about Japanese manga and popular anime characters like Pokémon, Doraemon, and Astro Boy. The influence of these animated idols is as strong as ever, with a newer generation discovering their charm.

Hobbyists now have the opportunity to learn more about their favorite animated characters and the rich cultural connections they embody through a serial exhibition titled “Japan – Kingdom of Characters.” This event highlights the ongoing relationship between Vietnamese and Japanese cultures by showcasing beloved character designs and stories.

The exhibition is organized by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and is set to take place in three major cities:

Hanoi: 01 – 23 October 2025
Location: Vietnam University of Fine Arts (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Dong Da District).

Hue: 01 – 13 November 2025
Location: Ho Chi Minh Museum (3 Le Truc Street).

Ho Chi Minh City: 24 November – 04 December 2025
Location: Ho Chi Minh City Museum (corner of Ly Tu Trong and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia).

The exhibitions will feature iconic Japanese anime and manga characters, spanning from the earliest days of Japanese animation to contemporary hits. Notable characters such as Astro Boy and Ultraman from the 1950s-1960s, Hello Kitty from the 1970s, Doraemon from the 1980s, Maruko Chan from the 1990s, and Pokémon from the 2000s will be on display. Attendees can look forward to diverse exhibits, including DVDs, statues, posters, and life-size figures. This event is not only expected to strengthen the cultural ties between Vietnam and Japan but also provides visitors with valuable insights into the history and future of the Japanese animation industry.

Japanese manga has evolved since the 1950s and has established a global presence beyond Japan. Characters like Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Doraemon, and Goku have garnered millions of dedicated fans worldwide, becoming cultural phenomena. In Vietnam, the appreciation for Japanese anime began to take hold in the 1990s with the publication of the first manga comics. The popularity of these animated characters has only continued to grow, fueled by an increasing diversity of Japanese animation and easy accessibility to content.
