Khmer festival to take place in December

The 5th Southern Khmer Ethnic Minority Cultural Festival is set to take place from December 1 to December 5, 2025, in An Giang province, with a rich array of cultural activities waiting for visitors to explore.

 

Attendees can look forward to a variety of cultural highlights, including boat races, traditional costume showcases, ethnic cuisine exhibitions, and Vietnam-Cambodian Khmer cross-border exchanges. Among these activities, the ox races are anticipated to be the most thrilling part of the event.

 

Performances by twelve artistic troupes participating in the festival will be held at Xuan Bien Industrial Park in Tinh Bien, An Giang, as announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee during a press conference on November 22, 2025.

 

Ox racing is expected to be extremely exciting

 

This triennial festival is highly anticipated by both locals and tourists due to its vibrant cultural significance and festive atmosphere. The Khmer community is dedicated to preserving their traditional lifestyles amidst the fast-paced modern world. With approximately 87,000 residents in An Giang, out of a total of around 2 million Khmer people throughout southern Vietnam, this ethnic group plays a vital role in enriching the cultural tapestry and holistic development of Vietnam.
