The Statistics Office of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reports that the number of international tourists to Vietnam in January is estimated to reach 630,000, increases 6.2% comparing with December 2011, 24.8% comparing with January 2011.
The General Statistics Office of Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, reports that the number of international tourists to Vietnam in January 2025 is estimated to reach 1.2 million, reflecting a 5.7% increase compared to December 2024 and a remarkable 18.3% rise compared with January 2024.
Of these, approximately 1 million are air travelers (83.3%), while sea travelers account for 8,000 (0.67%), and visitors arriving via other means of transportation make up around 192,000 (16%). Among the international visitors, 730,000 are traveling for tourism purposes, 250,000 for business, and 220,000 for other reasons. All figures have shown significant growth compared to the same period last year.
The largest sources of tourists continue to be countries such as China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, and Australia, with notable contributions from India and several Southeast Asian nations. Conversely, there has been a decrease in the number of visitors from certain markets, particularly Australia, which saw a decline of about 15.2%, along with a 10.5% decrease from some European markets.
This is a positive indicator for Vietnam's tourism sector, suggesting another prosperous year ahead for the travel industry. In 2023, Vietnam welcomed over 18 million international tourists, and the target for 2025 has been set at 20 million.
