International visitor number to Vietnam saw big increase in 2012
According to a recent announcement of the Vietnam’s Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the total number of foreign visitors to Vietnam in 2012 increased significantly.
According to a recent announcement from Vietnam’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of foreign visitors to Vietnam in 2024 has shown a remarkable recovery since the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tourism sector has rebounded significantly, welcoming a total of 18 million foreign visitors over the past year.
Despite a slight dip in December 2024, which saw a 3% decrease in visitors compared to November, the overall figure marks a substantial 20% increase from 2023. This year, the total number of tourists has reached 18 million, an all-time high for the country.
Contributing to this impressive influx, the capital city Hanoi attracted approximately 5 million foreign visitors in 2024, reflecting an increase of 15% from the previous year. Among these visitors, the largest groups included 500,000 from China (an increase of 30%), 400,000 from Japan, 300,000 from Australia, and 200,000 from South Korea.
This growth is seen as a positive indicator for Vietnam’s tourism industry, which has effectively navigated the challenges posed by recent global events. The sector is anticipated to achieve even greater success in 2025, with several major activities and promotions already planned to attract an even wider audience.
