A traditional music troupe has been established by the Hue Academy of Music to perform royal court music for free on weekends, aimed at attracting more travelers to this enchanting city in 2025.
The group consists of 21 students who are currently studying traditional instruments at the Hue Academy of Music. They are scheduled to perform every Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at Nghinh Luong Temple, a renowned historical site in the area.
Their inaugural show on May 19, 2025, was met with great enthusiasm, drawing a substantial audience that included both local residents and international visitors.
Royal Court Music is a cultural hallmark of Hue City and represents a significant element of Vietnam's traditional music. This genre flourished during the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th century and was initially performed exclusively for the royal family. In 2003, it, along with Tay Nguyen Gong Culture, was recognized as a masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
