Happy Taxi to be banned at Tan Son Nhat Airport
Online newspaper VnExpress reported that Happy Taxi Company has just been forced to cease operating at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City). This is the third company which was banned from this airport, after Petrolimex Taxi and Festival Taxi.
According to recent reports from VnExpress, Happy Taxi Company has been compelled to停止运营 at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City). This marks the third taxi service to face such a ban at this airport, following the suspensions of Petrolimex Taxi and Festival Taxi.
The cessation of operations comes after an investigation conducted by ministry inspectors on taxi companies operating at the airport on January 15, 2025. The inspection re-evaluated the operations of taxis at the airport, focusing on factors such as pricing, taxi licensing, and overall management.
The investigation revealed that Happy Taxi had obtained licenses for 270 drivers to operate at Tan Son Nhat Airport. However, only slightly more than 100 of these taxis were actively in operation. The remaining licenses were reportedly sold to other taxi companies, allowing them to meet the operational quota required at the airport. Consequently, taxis operating under the Happy Taxi license have also been ordered to cease operations.
Further findings from the investigation indicate that Happy Taxi failed to clearly disclose pricing structures to passengers and charged rates that exceeded the approved limits set for the company.
Currently, there are around 11 taxi companies operating at Tan Son Nhat Airport, comprising hundreds of vehicles. This overabundance of taxis has led to various challenges for both airport management and the regulation of taxi operations in the area. It is advisable for passengers to utilize services such as Vinasun or Mai Linh taxi when traveling in Ho Chi Minh City to mitigate the risk of encountering taxi scams.
