Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a proposal to transform Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site and Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi) to a cultural and historical park in order to conserve these ancient relic locations for both societal and tourism purpose.

The PM further instructs that the two sites should be connected with each other to become one integrated site to facilitate visitors. Moreover, a detailed plan also has to be prepared, with the main concentration on preserving original elements of these sites, as well as creating an architectural combination between these sites with other nearby locations, including Ba Dinh Political Centre.

Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site are two of the most popular historical relics which have been preserved almost completely until present. The relics cover a large area of more than 45,000 m2, with the central location adjacent to other famous relics in Hanoi such as Ba Dinh Square or Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex.
