Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a proposal to transform Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site and Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi) to a cultural and historical park in order to conserve these ancient relic locations for both societal and tourism purpose.
In 2025, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has endorsed a comprehensive proposal to transform the Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi into a cultural and historical park aimed at preserving these ancient relics for both public education and tourism.
The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of integrating these two historical sites to create a seamless visitor experience. A detailed master plan must be developed, focusing on the preservation of the original elements of both sites while promoting architectural harmony with nearby landmarks, including the Ba Dinh Political Centre.
As of 2025, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Hoang Dieu Archaeological Site stand as two of the most significant historical monuments in Vietnam, remarkably preserved to this day. This extensive heritage area spans over 45,000 m2 and is strategically located near other renowned attractions in Hanoi, such as Ba Dinh Square and the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex.
