The annual Southern Fruit Festival kicked off the summer yesterday at Ho Chi Minh City’s Suoi Tien Park, featuring a vibrant display of fruits arranged on boats, recreating the ambiance of Southern floating markets.

The festival commenced with captivating performances and parades by artists from Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, attended by over 20 foreign diplomats stationed in the city. This year's event showcases not only popular fruit varieties but also approximately 300 rarer types, including seedless guava and honey oranges. Additionally, the festival hosts a competition to determine the best fruits, where farmers and artisans will showcase their culinary talents in creating fruit-based dishes.

The festival aims to highlight the diverse array of fruits cultivated in the South, promote local fruit brands, and honor Vietnamese farmers. It also aspires to foster connections between farmers and processors and to encourage the adoption of technology in fruit cultivation. The event will run for three months and is projected to attract over 1.6 million visitors.
