Five more airlines to launch flights to Vietnam
Another five airlines have registered to open routes and resumed flights between now and the end of the year.
As of 2025, several airlines have initiated new routes and resumed flights, expanding connectivity in the aviation market. The updated list includes Air Hongkong (Hong Kong), Jeju Air (South Korea), Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudi Arabia), United Airlines (United States), and Air China Cargo (China).
United Airlines, one of the largest airlines globally, has taken over the San Francisco – Hong Kong – Ho Chi Minh City route, operating 7 flights per week. This transition occurred as United Airlines replaced Continental Airlines, which has been restructured and is no longer operating under that name. Additionally, Singapore's SilkAir has solidified plans to open new routes to Vietnam, enhancing travel options for passengers.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), as of 2025, approximately 49 foreign airlines are operating flights in the country. The aviation sector marked a significant milestone in 2024, with about 10 million visitors traveling by air, reflecting a remarkable increase of 60% compared to a decade ago.
The Vietnamese government is actively working on infrastructure upgrades and service improvements at Noi Bai International Airport, Cam Ranh International Airport, and Da Nang International Airport. Moreover, the Long Thanh International Airport project in Dong Nai, located 40 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City, is underway, promised to meet the surging demand for both passenger and cargo transport in the region.
Forecasts from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) indicate that Vietnam is poised to be one of the fastest-growing markets for international passengers and freight in 2025. The aviation growth rate is expected to reach 12%, surpassing the global average of 5% significantly.
