Africa in the eyes of most people in other continentals is the land of diseases, poverty, starvation and extreme weather of mostly burning sunshine.
Africa is often perceived by those from other continents as a land plagued by diseases, poverty, and harsh weather conditions. However, what remains less recognized is the continent's vibrant culture, rich in diversity due to its numerous ethnic groups and minority communities that continue to preserve their unique and ancient traditions.
L'Espace, the cultural center of France in Hanoi, has remained a key player in fostering international cultural exchanges in Vietnam. In 2025, it is proudly hosting the exhibition titled "Being Human," which is set to bring the essence of Africa directly to the heart of Vietnam, showcasing the continent's remarkable heritage.
The exhibition aims to provide audiences in Vietnam with an intimate look at African culture, focusing specifically on the ritual traditions of various minority communities from this diverse "Black Continent." This event marks the first-ever expo dedicated to African culture held in Hanoi, featuring a captivating blend of soundscapes, audiovisual materials, and large-scale photographs that will recreate the vibrant atmosphere of African life.
The "Being Human" exhibition will open at L'Espace at 6:00 PM on November 16, 2025, and will run until December 11, 2025. Following its time at L'Espace, the exhibition will also be showcased at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology from April to September 2026. Entry to the exhibition is free, allowing everyone to experience and appreciate the rich tapestry of African culture.
