European Contemporary Dance to perform in Hanoi
Thanks to European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in collaboration with the Vietnam National Opera Ballet (VNOB), trends in the European contemporary dance scene can be savored in Hanoi on 8th and 9th September at Youth Theatre, 11 Ngo Thi Nham Str., Hanoi.
Thanks to the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), in collaboration with the Vietnam National Opera Ballet (VNOB), audiences can enjoy trends from the European contemporary dance scene in Hanoi on 8th and 9th September 2025 at the Youth Theatre, located at 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hanoi. Each evening will showcase three distinct performances.
The show will open with a new piece titled "Firefly's Season," created by VNOB, exploring various forms of love. Following this, Karine Pontier from the Wallonie-Bruxelles delegation will present a captivating performance of her piece named "Benedetto Pacifico," danced by Ricardo Machado. This innovative Belgian piece delves into the inner fears individuals face and the enigmatic figures that linger in their imaginations.
A German-Vietnamese co-production will conclude the evening's performances. German choreographer Hans Henning Paar has developed a new piece with dancers from VNOB. Set to the passionate music of Franz Schubert, "Death and the Maiden" narrates the journey of a girl who initially resists, but ultimately embraces her own mortality.
