This flight marks a significant milestone as the first direct air route connecting the two cities. Since its launch, the flight has quickly gained popularity and is consistently fully booked.
This is the third direct air route established by Vietnam Airlines connecting Vietnam and Russia, reflecting a commitment to further investment and long-term development. Currently, the airline operates one flight per week, with plans to increase this frequency to two flights per week starting in June 2023.
During the opening ceremony for this new route, Dinh La Thang, the current Minister of Transport, urged Vietnam Airlines and related authorities to continue investing in and expanding their international network. He also emphasized the need to upgrade Cam Ranh International Airport to meet global standards.
As of 2025, Russia remains one of the top ten markets for tourism in Vietnam. In 2024, Vietnam welcomed over 250,000 Russian tourists, with approximately 120,000 visiting Khanh Hoa province. Many of these travelers originated from various cities in the Russian Far East, entering Vietnam through Cam Ranh International Airport.
