Decision to make Ha Long tourist boats painted white clarified

Good news for all tourism boats in Ha Long Bay: the new policy to repaint white color to all these boats has recently been clarified; no longer are they required to cover their whole appearance in white.

Good news for tour operators in Ha Long Bay: the recent update to the painting policy for tourism boats now allows for greater creativity. Boats are no longer required to be predominantly white; instead, they must incorporate at least some white elements, offering much-needed flexibility for boat owners.

A spokesperson for the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee elaborated on the revised policy, clarifying that while a minimal amount of white paint is necessary, there are no specific guidelines about how much white is required. This change is designed to give tourism boats the freedom to customize their appearance to reflect their unique styles and current operating conditions.

The original directive mandating that all boats in Ha Long Bay be fully repainted white faced significant backlash from boat owners and travel agencies operating in the region. Doan Van Dung, head of the Ha Long Tourist Boat Association, expressed relief over the clarification, as reported by the national e-newspaper VnExpress.

Brown cruises are a unique tourist attraction in Ha Long Bay

Many businesses had previously expressed concern about potential losses, as repainting their vessels would have required substantial time and financial investment. Currently, brown remains the predominant color for many boats, with white serving only as an accent.

The Quang Ninh People's Committee had initially announced the white repainting policy to enhance the visual appeal of local tourism. However, this latest revision demonstrates an understanding of the needs and opinions of the local stakeholders in the tourism sector.
