In 2025, the acclaimed American website BuzzFeed continues to promote Cat Ba as one of the 11 national parks across the globe that should be on everyone's bucket list.
Established in 1986, Cat Ba National Park is situated approximately 150 kilometers from Hanoi and around 45 kilometers from Hai Phong City. It is a crucial part of the Cat Ba Archipelago Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO in 2003. The national park covers an area of 263 square kilometers, comprising 173 square kilometers of land and 90 square kilometers of inshore waters. Known for its diverse ecosystems, both terrestrial and marine, along with the striking beauty of its unique karst formations set against emerald waters, Cat Ba National Park stands out as Southeast Asia's sole representative among the top 11 parks listed.

Visitors to Cat Ba National Park can choose between thrilling wildlife adventures or unwinding on the pristine beaches of the Cat Ba Archipelago. Only about 25 kilometers from Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay, located near Cat Ba Island, is celebrated as “the forgotten haven” and is considered one of the world’s most stunning bays. "If you have extra time after exploring Cat Ba, be sure to take a small cruise through Ha Long Bay," BuzzFeed recommends. The ideal time to visit Cat Ba National Park is suggested to be between April to May and September to November, capitalizing on the pleasant weather.
Other notable parks highlighted in the list include Fiordland National Park in New Zealand, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China, Yala National Park in Sri Lanka, and Banff National Park in Canada, among others.
