Two spacious caves with complexes of grottos inside have been consecutively discovered in the northern mountainous area of Bac Kan province.
The first cave was discovered in March 2025 by workers constructing National Highway 3B near Ang Toong Pass. To the astonished workers, this remarkable 120-meter-long cave contains three grottoes.
The second cave, which was recently uncovered, is even more impressive with a length of 350 meters and five grottoes inside. The walls of these grottoes are formed from blue stone mixed with soil and white stones. Entering these grottoes offers visitors a surreal experience, surrounded by numerous stalactites and stalagmites of varying sizes and colors, shimmering like stars—an unforgettable sight for first-time explorers.
Recognizing the significance of these untouched caves, Bac Kan authorities have directed relevant agencies to implement protective measures and enhance the caves' appeal as potential tourism attractions in the near future.
