Investors in over 100 tourism projects in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province have reaffirmed their commitment to continue funding these initiatives after a two-year hiatus due to the economic downturn and recent policy changes, according to Nguyen Van Son, deputy director of the Ba Ria Vung Tau Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
These projects are set to relaunch in 2025, with completion expected between 2026 and 2028. Notable developments include the Saigon Atlantis Hotel, which has an investment estimate of around $4.1 billion, and a similar budget Safari project from Danish investors, both anticipated to significantly enhance the province’s tourism appeal.
The tourism sector in Ba Ria Vung Tau has recently faced challenges due to the ongoing effects of economic fluctuations that have impacted tourist attraction and infrastructure development. Current data from the local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism shows that there are 154 tourism projects in the province, with a total estimated value exceeding VND 40 trillion (around $12 billion); however, only 30% of these projects are currently underway. Nevertheless, tourism statistics from early 2025 indicate a revitalizing trend, with visitor numbers rising by 12.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
