Local archeologists in Hue City have discovered an ancient stele which is estimated to be more than two hundred years old.
Local archaeologists in Hue City have recently uncovered an ancient stele that is estimated to be over two hundred years old. This artifact was discovered near a hot spring in Duong Hoa Commune, Huong Thuy Town.
With dimensions of 1.5 meters in height and 1 meter in width, the stele features a poem composed by King Thieu Tri, the third monarch of the Nguyen Dynasty. The poem, dating back to the 19th century, extols the beauty of the hot spring, recognizing it as one of the twenty most stunning sites in Hue. Additionally, this artifact indicates that the location served as a resting place for the King.
This discovery adds significant value to the array of historical relics and artifacts that have been unearthed in and around Hue City in recent years.
According to Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, the director of the Hue Relics and Preservation Centre, the stele is currently being exhibited and preserved at the Hue Relics Museum, where the public can come to admire this important piece of history.
