Amazing Tet celebration at Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

From January 26th to 28th, 2012 (4th to 6th day of the first lunar month), Vietnam Museum of Ethnology hosts a fair of cultural activities to celebrate Tet holiday.

From January 24th to 26th, 2025 (the 15th to 17th day of the first lunar month), Vietnam Museum of Ethnology will be hosting a fair of cultural activities to celebrate the Tet holiday. The participation of people from various ethnic minorities in Vietnam is the highlight of the event, which is expected to reflect the rich diversity of Tet holiday celebrations across the country. More than 90 individuals from ethnic groups such as Raglai, Dao Lô Gang, Na Mèo, and Tày have been invited to showcase traditional activities and perform folk music that expresses wishes for happiness and a prosperous harvest.

Common cultural activities and entertainment in northern villages during the Tet holiday, such as calligraphy, Đông Hồ painting printing, and water puppetry, will also be introduced to visitors.

To create a lively festive atmosphere, tourists are encouraged to participate in folk games such as tug-of-war, swinging, and wrestling, as well as craft traditional toys like tò he (toy figurines) and paper mâché masks.

Foreign visitors will be excited to taste the distinctive Tet flavors of the Tày people, including mouthwatering local specialties such as roasted piglet, stir-fried buffalo meat, and steamed purple sticky rice.
