According to the latest information from Kazakhstan's national flag carrier, Air Astana, the airline opened a direct route from Kazakhstan to Ho Chi Minh City in December 2022.
Specifically, Air Astana operates two flights per week from Almaty International Airport (Almaty, Kazakhstan) to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa using a Boeing 737 aircraft, which accommodates approximately 170 passengers per flight. Initially, this new route focuses on serving travelers from Kazakhstan and business professionals from both countries, while travelers from Vietnam and expatriate workers are expected to become key targets as the route establishes a sustainable operation.
Representatives from both the Vietnamese government and Air Astana believe that this initiative will significantly enhance the commercial relationship between the two nations, particularly within the transportation and tourism sectors.
Air Astana, founded in 2001, is the largest airline in Kazakhstan and is recognized as the only 4-star airline in Eastern Europe and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). It is also considered one of the premier and safest airlines in Asia and globally.
