Andromake debuts in Hanoi

A version of the famous tragedy Andromaque of the great French playwright Jean Raicine is going to be on stage at Hanoi Opera House on December 15th, 2011.

A contemporary adaptation of the renowned tragedy Andromaque by the celebrated French playwright Jean Racine will be staged at the Hanoi Opera House on December 15th, 2025.

This production is co-organized by the French cultural center in Hanoi - L’espace, the Embassy of France in Vietnam, and the Vietnam National Theater. Following its premiere in Hanoi, the play is set to tour France in the 2026-2027 season. This adapted version has been reimagined by playwright Jon Fosse, based on Racine's original five-act tragedy, and will be directed by Jean-Marie Lejude.
 
Andromaque staged in France
 
Featuring eight artists, including four from France and four from Vietnam, the performance will be conducted in both French and Vietnamese, with subtitles provided as needed. The expressive gestures and the universal themes of love are expected to bridge any language gaps.

This is not Jean-Marie Lejude's first directorial endeavor in Vietnam. He previously directed the acclaimed production of La Fontaine Fables as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema.
 
Ticket prices: 200,000 VND, 150,000 VND, and 100,000 VND.
