Archaeologists have recently discovered a 1,000-year-old relic—a tower from the Champa civilization featuring four corners, one main entrance, and three secondary doors—in Phong Le Village, Da Nang, after more than a month of excavation.
According to Mr. Vo Van Thang, Director of the Cham Sculpture Museum in Da Nang, archaeologists are continuing to explore an area of approximately 500 square meters. Their goal is to learn more about the tower and uncover additional relics and artifacts related to Champa culture in the vicinity. Mr. Thang also mentioned that a comprehensive preservation plan for the artifacts discovered at this excavation site is in preparation and will be submitted to the Da Nang tourism administration for approval.
The Champa civilization is regarded as one of the most captivating cultures in Vietnam. Significant remnants of this ancient culture can be found in various locations throughout Central Vietnam. However, this recent discovery marks a rare find of a Champa relic in proximity to Da Nang City, highlighting the continued significance of the region's cultural heritage.
