When are the public holidays in Vietnam?

Public holidays in Vietnam are days when civil servants enjoy a day off work. Similar to many other countries, if a holiday falls on a weekend, the following Monday is observed as a holiday. Below is the updated list of public holidays in Vietnam for 2025:

January 1: New Year's Day
January / February: Tet or Vietnamese Lunar New Year. The exact dates vary each year based on the lunar calendar. In 2025, Tet will be celebrated on February 10th, with official holidays stretching from February 8th to 16th. This period is characterized by a surge in travel throughout Vietnam, as hotels, flights, and trains fill up quickly. Many restaurants and shops may close for several days or even a week during this festive time.

April 30: Liberation of Saigon Day
May 1: International Labour Day
September 2: National Day

Day 10 of the 3rd lunar month: Traditional holiday commemorating the mythical Hùng Kings. In 2025, this holiday will fall on April 19th.
