An exhibition titled “Memories of Hue” is scheduled to be held at Tu Do Gallery, located at 53 Ho Tung Mau, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, from 5 to 25 July 2025.
The exhibition will showcase a total of 33 oil and silk paintings by two prominent artists, Nguyen Khoa Nhy and Ton Nu Tuong Hoa. Nguyen Khoa Nhy will present 9 oil paintings, while Ton Nu Tuong Hoa will contribute 9 oil paintings alongside 15 silk works.
The artworks evoke memories of the historic city of Hue, exploring a range of themes from the people and nature to society and culture, bridging both the past and present.
Nguyen Khoa Nhy, originally from Phan Rang (Ninh Thuan), spent a significant portion of his youth in Hue City, where he studied at Hue Fine Arts College. He is acclaimed for his numerous masterpieces depicting the charm of old Hue, including notable works such as “Ve Coi” (Back to the Homeland) and “Vong Tay Me” (Mother's Embrace).
Ton Nu Tuong Hoa is renowned for her oil and silk paintings that capture the essence of Hue City, particularly focusing on the beauty of its flowers and women. Her paintings often feature themes of nostalgia and isolation, rendered in a palette of muted and melancholic tones.
Hue, known for its remarkably preserved relics, served as the ancient capital of Vietnam during the Nguyen dynasty from 1802 to 1945. Despite Vietnam's rapid modernization over the past few decades, Hue remains a tranquil and serene city, rich in history and culture.
