More policies implemented for tourism in Ho Chi Minh City
In order to develop tourism, which has been long considered an advantage of Ho Chi Minh City, the city authorities has launched new policy on this service industry.
In an effort to further develop tourism, a sector long recognized as a key asset of Ho Chi Minh City, city authorities have introduced new policies aimed at enhancing the service industry. These initiatives focus on diversifying tourism offerings and improving the quality of travel products. The policies prioritize budget travel and "free & easy" tourism, ensuring affordable and sustainable tour options. Annual events and festivals continue to be organized to celebrate and promote the cultural heritage of this vibrant city.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism department, part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is collaborating with the City Institute of Development in Tourism to implement a comprehensive tourism improvement plan for 2021 to 2030. This plan includes expanding river tours, enhancing connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and regions like Binh Thuan and Lam Dong, and fostering collaboration with neighboring provinces such as Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen. Additionally, the city has launched more training programs in hospitality, culinary arts, security, and tour guiding to strengthen the workforce in the tourism sector.
In addition to the efforts made by the Ho Chi Minh City authorities to attract more visitors, numerous tourism firms are also making significant investments to enhance their services. For example, Moevenpick has completely refurbished its facilities, while the REX Hotel is currently upgrading its historic buildings and establishing a new luxurious plaza.
Ho Chi Minh City remains a treasure trove for Vietnam's tourism industry, boasting an array of captivating tourism products. Recent statistics indicate that approximately 4.5 million tourists visited Ho Chi Minh City in the first nine months of 2023, generating nearly 100 trillion VND (approximately 4.3 billion USD) in revenue for the city's economy.
