Indian Food Festival at Sofitel Saigon Plaza

It must be a great delight for Indian food lovers to know that a festival exclusively featuring Indian cuisines is currently underway at Sofitel Saigon Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City, running until September 6, 2025.

While Indian cuisine has gained global recognition, it remains relatively scarce in Vietnam. In major tourist destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Nha Trang, only a limited number of Indian restaurants have emerged, primarily catering to tourists. For many locals, Indian curry is often perceived as too heavily spiced, and dishes like dahl soup are not commonly found within the traditional Pho culture.

This limited representation of Indian cuisine in Vietnam makes this food festival a significant event for diners in Ho Chi Minh City. The buffet dinner is being held at Cafe Rivoli, where Chef Montu Saini, alongside his assistant Japan Nath, will be showcasing the most authentic dishes from his experience at the Ashok Hotel in New Delhi.

Dinner tickets are priced at approximately $49++ for adults and $24++ for children. While this may seem somewhat pricey for a night out, the exquisite flavors from India make it a worthwhile experience, especially given the rarity of such events in Vietnam.
