The exhibition featuring 34 oil paintings entitled “Impression on Sapa” by artist To Ngoc Thanh, the son of the renowned To Ngoc Van, is set to open at Tu Do Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday, September 10th, 2025, and will run until September 28th. This exhibition aims to present a vibrant portrayal of Sapa, showcasing its breathtaking landscapes, traditional customs, and the daily routines of its people.
Sapa is celebrated as a serene and picturesque destination, often referred to as a year-round paradise by travelers. However, this exhibition offers visitors a fresh perspective on Sapa, revealing aspects that are typically overlooked but linger in the memory. Through the artist's lens, Sapa emerges not only as a charming town but also as a place bursting with contrasting colors, especially illuminated by the gentle spring sunlight.
To Ngoc Thanh began his artistic journey at an early age and is currently based in Hanoi. Despite his move, he harbors a deep desire to return to this northern mountainous region, where his family sought refuge during the national resistance in 1946. Consequently, the exhibition will convey both his profound appreciation for the region's natural beauty and his concerns regarding the rapid changes it faces in the near future.
