Beautiful new caves discovered in Bac Kan

Two spacious caves with complexes of grottos inside have been consecutively discovered in the northern mountainous area of Bac Kan province.

In early 2025, two expansive caves featuring impressive grotto complexes were uncovered in the northern mountainous region of Bac Kan province, Vietnam.

The first cave was discovered approximately six weeks ago by construction workers engaged in building National Highway 3B near Ang Toong Pass. The workers were astounded to find a remarkable cave stretching 120 meters in length, which houses three distinct grottoes within.

The second cave, which has recently been revealed, is even more stunning, extending 350 meters and containing five grottoes. The walls of these grottoes, comprised of blue stone interspersed with soil and white stone, create a breathtaking natural display. Visitors stepping into these grottoes will be captivated by the enchanting stalactites and stalagmites of varying sizes and colors, which shimmer like stars in the dim light, promising to leave a lasting impression on first-time explorers.

Recognizing the significance of these pristine caves, Bac Kan authorities have taken measures to safeguard them and aspire to develop them into compelling tourist attractions in the near future.

Bac Kan, situated in northeastern Vietnam, is celebrated for its untamed natural beauty. The province's most renowned landmark is the 200 million-year-old Ba Be Lake, which ranks among the world's 100 largest freshwater lakes. The discovery of these two stunning caves is anticipated to draw an even greater number of tourists to Bac Kan and its myriad attractions.
