All nationals invited to create a logo for My Son

Though honorably recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999, My Son has yet had a formal symbol, and it is the first time a competition to create one the holy land was held.

Recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999, My Son has now established its first official symbol, following a recent competition aimed at creating a representative logo for this sacred site. The competition, which concluded in late 2023, attracted a significant number of creative submissions from both Vietnamese citizens and international participants.

The competition was organized through a collaboration between the UNESCO Office in Hanoi and the My Son Relics Management Board. This initiative sought innovative ideas for a symbol that encapsulates the essence of My Son. Interested participants had until October 30, 2023, to submit their designs, with the option to enter multiple submissions if desired.

The evaluation period and award ceremony were held from November 1 to November 30, 2023, showcasing the talent and creativity involved. The winners received recognition, although specific details regarding the prize amounts were not disclosed.

Despite significant strides in tourism development, Vietnam's reliance on conventional marketing strategies has been a constraint over the years. A formal logo, a cohesive slogan, and a captivating promotional video are now recognized as essential elements to enhance Vietnam's tourism marketing, making the country's attractions more accessible to global travelers.

The successful completion of this competition is expected to pave the way for a brighter future for tourism in Quang Nam province and My Son, in particular, encouraging greater interest and visitation to this historic site.
