The region boasts around 84 bird species across 35 families, including an impressive population of approximately 500,000 storks. While the birds can be observed during the day, the most exhilarating viewing occurs in the early evening after 5 PM. As the sun sets, vast flocks of storks, sometimes numbering in the thousands, soar over the Ba Lai River, performing graceful maneuvers in the colorful sky before settling in the lush greenery of the forest. The chorus of thousands of birds mingling, chirping, and dancing creates an enchanting melody that fills the jungle. Alongside the calls of the storks, the diverse sounds of other birds intermingle with rustling leaves, infusing a tranquil summer night with vibrant life.
Inside the Vam Ho Bird Sanctuary, visitors have the opportunity to explore by boat, navigating through the submerged forest and traversing narrow bamboo bridges that lead to refreshing pockets of clean air in this well-preserved wetland. Travelers can relax in the dappled shade of the forest or visit historical remnants from the Vietnam War, adding depth to their experience in this serene natural oasis.
