Named after a national hero and a world cultural celebrity, the street belongs to two Districts 1 and 5. In District 5, you can find a couple of hotels, including Tay Nguyen and Thanh Ngoc, which continue to serve travelers in 2025.
As you stroll along the street, you will come across Ba Thien Hau Pagoda. This ancient site, established by the Chinese settlers from Guangdong in the 18th century, showcases distinctive Chinese architectural features. The pagoda not only serves as a beautiful landmark but also attracts visitors during the full moon celebrations of the Lunar months of July and August. Another notable structure influenced by Chinese culture is the Nguyen Trai Hospital. Originally built as a pagoda in 1909, it has since transformed into a hospital, reflecting the area's rich history.
There is no shortage of Chinese restaurants along the street, including popular spots like Hai Ki Noodle, Tan Hai Van for Sui Cao, Dan Ich for Fish Hot Pot, and several vegetarian establishments. Each restaurant is known for its unique offerings, and it’s common to see both Chinese and Vietnamese signage. It would be regrettable to visit Cho Lon without savoring the delicious Chinese cuisine available in this vibrant area.
