Pac Mong Festival
Among more than 260 traditional festivals in Lang Son Province, Pac Mong festival is considered one of the greatest ones, attracting thousands of people from all over the country.
This event marks the onset of the spring festival season in the province each year.
The Pac Mong Festival is celebrated on the 5th day of the lunar calendar in Quang Lac village, Lang Son province. This festival is closely linked to the Long Tong Festival, which is a traditional celebration by the Tay and Nung ethnic groups to welcome the new harvest.
While the main festivities commence on the 5th day, many visitors from surrounding regions begin to arrive in the village as early as the afternoon of the 4th day. A significant number of these attendees are young men and women from Dong Mo in Chi Lang District and Dong Dang in Cao Loc District. As evening descends, after the worship ceremony at the King Dinh Tien Hoang Temple located at the center of the village, the celebrations commence in earnest. The young participants engage in various activities such as the Lion Dance, Dragon Dance, Sli Singing Contest, and Luon Singing Contest. The following morning, residents from the villages of Cao Kiet, Xien Cu, Ban Quach, Khuon Nha, Pac Cap, and Nghuon Nghien prepare offerings to the deities. These gifts, typically consisting of food and fruits, are laid out by the paddy fields, allowing worshippers to pay their respects and partake in the offerings.
Although the Pac Mong Festival is primarily celebrated by the local inhabitants of Lang Son, it also draws the Tay and Nung ethnic groups from other districts in the province who believe that participating in the festival will bring them good fortune for the year ahead.
