Hon Chong

Hon Chong is a cluster of huge stones located in Khanh Hoa Province.

In Vietnamese, the term "Chong" has two meanings: to stack and husband. Locals typically refer to Hon Chong in the context of the latter. However, the first interpretation intriguingly describes the arrangement of these massive stones.

Perched on a rocky mountain slope, Hon Chong stands out as a breathtaking natural wonder. It overlooks the ocean from a cliff, appearing poised to tumble into the sea at any moment yet remaining remarkably stable. The large boulders of Hon Chong seem to defy gravity, creating a stunning sight that captivates first-time visitors. Each boulder supports and conflicts with the others simultaneously, creating an intricate balance. The largest boulder resembles a small hill, serving as the foundation for another massive stone, which is comparable in size to a house, nestled atop it. On the seaward side, a mysterious handprint with five distinct fingers continues to intrigue visitors, historians, and scientists alike, perpetuating an air of mystery surrounding this geological formation.

The name Hon Chong derives from its shape and placement, resembling a husband leaning against a nearby cluster of stones known as Hon Vo (the wife). Hon Vo, a spectacular formation, lies not far from Hon Chong. It's worth noting that two distinct Hon Chong clusters exist, with the second located near Sat Thon islet, which may create confusion about which one truly represents the husband.
