Danang Marble Mountains

Location

Driving approximately 9 km south of Danang city center along the renowned beachfront boulevard Truong Sa, visitors can discover one of the region's most popular attractions, the Marble Mountains. This cluster consists of five marble and limestone mountains, symbolically named after the five elements of ancient Oriental philosophy: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

What to see

The Marble Mountains boast a complex network of caves and tunnels, which historically served as crucial hideouts and bases for Vietnamese revolutionaries.

Thuy Son and Vong Giang

Among the five peaks, Thuy Son, representing water, is the tallest and the primary attraction for visitors. Most tourists come to Marble Mountains to explore Thuy Son. This mountain is home to numerous caves and Buddhist temples, many of which date back to the 17th century.

After climbing about 150 stone steps from the base of Thuy Son, visitors will reach the most stunning observatory point: the Riverview Tower, or Vong Giang Tower in Vietnamese. Founded in the 18th century by Emperor Minh Mang, the tower offers breathtaking views of Kim Son (the mountain of metal), the Truong Giang River, the Cam Le River, and the serene coastline ahead.

Non Nuoc Village

Tourists should also consider visiting Non Nuoc Village at the foot of the Marble Mountains. This village is renowned for its stone sculptures and artisanal crafts, where visitors can purchase a variety of marble items ranging from small earrings and necklaces to large Buddha sculptures. Previously, stone was extracted directly from the Marble Mountains for these sculptures, but such extraction has since been banned. Now, sculpting materials are transported from nearby provinces like Quang Nam and Thanh Hoa.
