Hang Ngang Street

Hàng Ngang bridges Hang Dao and Hang Duong, constituting one of the busiest market place of Hanoi and typical of the Old quarter.

Hang Ngang connects Hang Dao and Hang Duong, forming one of the busiest marketplaces in Hanoi and a quintessential part of the Old Quarter. Like Hang Dao, Hang Ngang primarily features textile products made in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries. Historically, during the 15th and 16th centuries, the market was known for its trade in tea and tobacco products.

The building located at 48 Hang Ngang Street holds significant historical value: it is where Ho Chi Minh drafted the Declaration of Independence, which was proclaimed in Ba Dinh Square in 1945. Today, the site operates as a small museum, showcasing artifacts and documents from the struggle for national independence during the 1940s and helping to educate visitors about this pivotal period in Vietnam's history.
