TNT Theatre to present Oliver Twist in Vietnam this May

Oliver Twist, an important novel in the literary canon, will be brought to Vietnam’s stages in May 2012 by the British TNT Theatre. The TNT version is expected to be a dynamic combination of physical theatre and live music, tragedy and comedy, and even a dash of participation. TNT also seeks to distinguish its adaptation from other versions by toning down the sentimentality and presenting the story through the eyes of the antagonist Fagin.

Charles Dickens is widely considered as one of the greatest English writers and creator of many memorable fictional characters. The themes and social issues raised in his works are still relevant today and Oliver Twist in particular has been the subject of numerous film and theatre adaptations. Now Vietnamese literary lovers can finally enjoy this masterpiece in the highly innovative production by TNT.

A familiar name to Vietnamese theatre lovers, TNT has toured in Vietnam several times with their lively adaptations of such beloved classics as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas’s Carol. Written and directed by the internationally recognized artistic director Paul Stebbings, the production is “a stunning and accessible theatrical performance”, as hailed by the Japan Times. The company has also been touted as “the most interesting development on the current theatrical scene” by the Guardian (London).

Ticket prices are VND 600,000 for adults and VND 300,000 for students, applying to all classes. The play will be presented in Hanoi Opera House (Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh Opera House (Ho Chi Minh City) and Trung Vuong Theatre (Da Nang).
