Itinerary for Hue and Hoi An In 3 Days

Hoi An is located about 80 km from Hue City, or about 2.5 hours by car. For those who wants to cram more into their stay, these two destinations can be combined into an itinerary that can last between 3 and 5 days.

Day 1: Hue City Tour

In the morning, visit the Citadel and the Imperial City. It is close enough to walk and undoubtedly, it is the best way to enjoy Hue besides biking. In the afternoon, you can take a cab or motor-taxi to visit the further attractions such as Royal Tombs or various pagoda such as Thien Mu or Thiet Lam. The first night in Hue, you can impress yourself by joining one of the boat trips along Perfume River, savouring Hue Royal specialty and music.

Day 2: Hue - Hoi An

Transport to Hoi An. You can contact one of the tour companies near Le Loi area for bus information or renting a car on your own. The way from Hue to Hoi An is already an attraction itself. Hai Van tunnel that connects Hue to Hoi An is one of its kind in Southeast Asia. Just before and after the tunnel, the pass looks strikingly beautiful.

As you arrive in Hoi An, check in one of the hotels. You can choose to stay near Cua Dai beach or in Hoi An Ancient Town. You can spend your afternoon touring ancient town, helping yourself with some tailored-to-your-size clothes and shoes and visiting the town’s main attractions. The dining scene in Hoi An is glamorous. And if you are lucky enough to arrive in Hoi An in the middle of Lunar Calendar Month, you will be carried away by the charm of the city. All light goes out, leaving space for lantern which floats along Thu Bon river.

Day 3: My Son Sanctuary - Cua Dai Beach

Book a tour to My Son Sanctuary, one of the most sacred places in Vietnam, where bore the Cham civilization. The site has continually been recognized by the UNESCO as World Heritage and should never be missed. On hot days, bring plenty of water as the walk can be long and tedious.

Returning to Hoi An in the afternoon, you can either go to Cua Dai beach for some sun and sand, or spend more time in Ancient Town for touring or shopping. Do not forget to stop by the Cargo Club for many luxurious ice-cream options or a mango mouse. Hoi An is a place for never-ending story of inspirations.
