Being one of the oldest universities in central Vietnam, Vinh University was founded in 1959. It has grown into a key undergraduate education center—not only for its region but for the whole country. The university is popular for its strong academic reputation, diverse programs, and pioneering use of the credit-based curriculum, being among the first in Vietnam to implement it.

As of 2025, Vinh University offers around 42 undergraduate programs, 28 master’s degrees, and 10 doctoral programs across fields such as economics, education, technology, and sciences. The student body exceeds 36,000, representing all provinces of Vietnam, including over 300 international students.
The faculty includes 56 professors and associate professors, 118 PhDs, 500 master’s degree holders, and 121 senior lecturers, with over 60% of staff holding advanced degrees from abroad. This experienced academic team ensures graduates are well-prepared in theory and practice. Vinh University is undergoing strategic investment to become a nationally key institution with international standards.
