Vietnam National University (Ho Chi Minh City), along with its counterpart in Hanoi, is regarded as one of the two most crucial national university systems in Vietnam, offering top-quality education and a wide range of courses. The university was founded on 27 January 1995 by merging nine existing institutions in Ho Chi Minh City and was reorganized under a new structural model in February 2001.
At present, Vietnam National University (Ho Chi Minh City) serves not only as a core institution for undergraduate and postgraduate education, but also as a leading scientific and social research hub, responsible for conducting advanced studies, driving technology transfer, and supporting government initiatives in economic and societal development.
The university currently provides education to over 93,000 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and international programs. It offers approximately 165 undergraduate majors, 133 master’s programs, and 94 doctoral programs spanning disciplines from economics and technology to social sciences, humanities, and natural sciences. The academic staff comprises around 3,284 lecturers, supported by 2,098 administrative personnel.
