Being officially (re)established in 1994 on the foundation of the historic University of Huế from earlier governance structures, Hue University has developed into the largest multi-disciplinary university system in Central Vietnam and the Western Highlands. The main role of the university is not only to educate skilled undergraduate students across diverse fields, but also to conduct scientific and technological research, and contribute to regional development. It is also a key cultural and social hub where individuals from Vietnam and abroad interact and exchange knowledge rooted in local traditions.
Hue University is currently offering programs across 90 undergraduate disciplines, 61 master’s programs, and 22 doctoral programs. Teaching is supported by a staff of 3,786, including 200 professors and associate professors, 500 PhD holders, and 1,159 with master’s degrees. The student population exceeds 45,000 full-time students, plus around 200 international students, with an annual intake of approximately 13,000 undergraduates, 1,400 master’s students, and 100 doctoral candidates.
