All you need to know about international flights to Vietnam

As of 2025, numerous airlines operate flights to Vietnam, with key international airports including Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang International Airport (DAD), and Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) in Hanoi. While the number of direct routes from Australia, Europe, and North America to Vietnam has gradually increased, most flights still involve transit points in major hubs such as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, or Singapore.

Flights from Australia

Daily flights from Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City offer connections through Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Darwin, or Bangkok. Flights originating from Wellington or Auckland typically include layovers in Kuala Lumpur as well. Qantas and Vietnam Airlines maintain direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Sydney; however, fares for these flights can be around 30% higher than alternative routes. Other airlines serving the route between Vietnam and Oceania include Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, China Southern Airlines, and Singapore Airlines, among others.

Travelers looking to explore during layovers can find numerous tour options to visit Seoul or Tokyo available through local airport services.

Flights from Europe

Direct flights between Hanoi and key cities such as Paris, Frankfurt, and London are offered by Vietnam Airlines. However, securing better fares often necessitates at least one stopover in Hong Kong or Singapore. Travelers are encouraged to compare prices by shopping around both online and offline with various travel agencies.
