This street is uniquely named after a foreigner in Hanoi due to his exceptional contributions to Vietnam and the world. Doctor Alexandre Emile Jean Yersin is celebrated as a pivotal figure in medicine, having discovered treatments for various harmful bacteria and diseases. The Swiss doctor first arrived in Indochina in 1890 and worked at the Louis Pasteur Institute in South Vietnam, where he became affectionately known as “Mr. Nam Yec-xanh” by the local population. He also played a significant role in the discovery of the scenic Da Lat, now one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations, known for its pleasant climate and diverse ecosystems. Yec-Xanh Street extends approximately 300 meters, connecting Nguyen Cao Street to Lo Duc Street. Along this street, you will find several public health facilities, including the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology located at No. 1, as well as various private consulting offices. To access this area by public transport, you can take bus No. 18.
